Yesterday evening everything was set for a top match in Daytona – but in the end we had to take our first defeat of the season. Against the Falcons of Daytona State College, we lost almost 2:3. And yes, that hurts 😤.
I myself stood on the place ⚽ for the full 90 minutes, but honestly: I am not yet at 100% 💭. After my injury, there is simply a little bit of splash and rhythm. Nevertheless, I gave everything – like the whole team 💪.
Joao Victor Loureiro brought us with a strong solo 1:0 leading 🎯. Our Keeper Will Blease saved shortly afterwards with a madness-saving 🧤. But just before the half-time the Falcons got an Elfmeter – 1:1 for the break 😑.
Then the rain came 🌧️. That's right. The second passage was a real fight on wet lawn. Daytona took advantage of two standard situations in an ice-cold manner and suddenly lay 3:1 in front – two really stupid counter-gates 😣, which we ourselves broke in.
Henry Crosthwaite could still shorten to 3:2 ⚡, but despite a few good chances at the end, we have not managed to turn the game 🔄.
What is particularly frustrating: We could have shot a lot more goals. As a team, we need to get more dangerous forward again.
Conclusion: It was a bitter evening 😞, but we take the lessons. Now it goes to Texas, there are two important games waiting. We are still a strong team – and will strike back 🛡️⚔️.
